Hello all
I am the wife of Don Slocum who was with Red Horse CES 823 in Vietnam. Don never talked about his war experiences. He died on 5 March 2012, about 4 weeks ago, of a sudden cancer. we have a son who is 11. I have an intense need to understand Don more, and to be able to educate our son about him. Since Don died i have discovered his war papers and saw he was awarded the Military Merit medal with an incredible and moving citation. This was something Don never shared with me. We did attend war memorial services in NZ where we live, and these were important days for him, the annual day is in 3 weeks time and this time Matthew will be able to wear his dads medals. I am keen to make contact with men who knew and served alongside Don, so i can understand this complex man more clearly, and so i can pass on to Matthew the stories behind the photos I have found. I am hoping to bring Matthew to america in june this year with the hope of it being a voyage of discovery and understanding for him. Dons war details were Sgt Donald B Slocum, discharged on 16 May 1967. I do not know what all these numbers mean. I hope this is enough information to hear from someone who knew Don. I recently received a email from Robert Hecker who was stationed with me at NKP 556 Red Horse in 66-67. He stated that there was agent orange at all bases in Thailand during 66-67. Can't seem to get into Re Horse discussion. Says not on line. Everything else on my computer and on the page is working so I was wondering if you have a technical problem.

My dad, frank provost jr lt col, was in Vietnam from 69-71 and recently passed on september 16. I believe he was in the 819th as he was stationed in Phu Cat during this time. I think he served with Remy
Pochelon.

RETIRED IN 1980 WENT BACK TO WORK FOR USAF AN RETIRED AGAIN IN 2005 24YR ON THAT ONE STILL IN FAIRBORN,HAD 2 SONS ONE 9YR IN THE ARMY AN OUT AN ONE RETIRED M/SGT,,NOW 3 GRANDKIDS IN THE ARMYSO THIS FAMILY IS STILL IN THE MIL.
